The first time I came across your gallery was because I saw a piece by artist Iriée Zamble on your Instagram account. I had been following Iriée for a while and found the aforementioned piece very beautiful. When I came to pick up the artwork, I noticed a piece by Maarten Fijan. It was also beautiful, but I had no idea how to hang it. You then acted as an intermediary between the artist and me, and Maarten himself, along with his girlfriend Saar, came to hang the artwork for me. Superb service, and now I also have an amazing piece by Saar in my home!!

“Since becoming a member, I’ve had 10 different artworks in my home! The flexibility to switch as often as you want is great. And also, the fact that you accumulate credit while renting.

There are always beautiful exhibitions to see; I really enjoy the annual SBK Sprouts Young Talents exhibition. You’re always very kindly assisted by people who know a lot about art. It’s nice that they also have photos and a beautiful space on KNSM-laan. I can’t think of a better option if you want art in your home. More people my age should know about this.”

“It is very pleasant to be able to rent artworks initially (or for a long time) and at the same time build up credit. That non-committal aspect appeals to me the most.

In the past, I have made some mistakes with purchasing artworks. The purchase was too impulsive and ultimately did not retain the charm of the beginning, or my taste had simply changed. The non-committal aspect also extends to visiting SBK itself. The staff have a lot of knowledge about art and also the ability to find a suitable piece for the interested person. But if I just want to browse around, I feel completely free to do so. Even if I don’t end up walking out with a new piece.

Through SBK, I now have 4 artworks, paintings and prints, all of which have a prominent place in my home. All initially borrowed or on display, but eventually purchased. A few other artworks have kept me company in the house for a while, but have not led to a lasting relationship.

I find the contact and cooperation with SBK and its employees very pleasant and relaxed. It may be that I don’t visit for a long time, but eventually I always walk in again. I would say to everyone: just go take a look and let yourself be surprised!”
